We will be delivering the introduction to safeguarding training online.  Those that attend will need to have access to a computer and an email.  We advise not to use your mobile phone as there will be some interaction surveys/quiz to complete.  You will also need a quiet place where you can work uninterrupted. Please keep your emails up-to-date as we sent a Microsoft Teams invitation.

Once we confirm your place you will receive an MS Teams invitation.

The MS Teams invitation will be for 3 hours; 2 ½ hours teaching and ½ hour for technical issues and a break.

If you can’t see the MS Teams invitation in your email in box please check your junk/spam inbox for training confirmation/invitation therefore please make sure your email is correct on your Ealing CPD Online account.

To join the meeting on the day you don’t have to download the MS Teams app you would just need to open your email invitation and click on the link to join the training.  When you click on the link you will be asked to type in your name and then wait to be invited to join by the host.

This online course is designed to raise awareness of safeguarding and child protection issues. The course will allow those who come into contact with children and their families to explore and develop an understanding of safeguarding children and provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to deal with child protection situations.

Cost Description
Free to all childminders only (cancellation fee for non-attendance on the day, see below)

Please note we can only offer one place per setting, if a delegate is unable to attend for any reason, we must receive a cancellation via www.ealingcpd.org.uk or to trainingsupport@ealing.gov.uk more than 4 days before the course date. This will give us time to reallocate the space to someone on the waiting list or you can substitute staff from your setting.
 
If we do not receive notification of cancellation your school/setting/organisation within our terms, ie 4 days prior to event date, will be liable to pay a non-attendance fee.

By the end of the session, participants will have:

· A better understanding of the relevant local and national framework for safeguarding and child protection

· The awareness to identify what is safeguarding and promoting the welfare and child abuse

· The awareness and skills to name the categories of abuse and neglect and recognise the signs and indicators of each

· The knowledge and skills to respond to concerns about the safety and welfare of a child / young person using local/their organisations   child protection policies and procedures

· The confidence to share confident information appropriately

This is a beginner course and no previous experience of safeguarding / child protection is required. Upon completion of this course it is recommended that those with specific safeguarding / child protection responsibility contact the Ealing Children's Safeguarding Board for additional training.
