Event description

This online course is delivered by Ealing Early Start Speech and Language Therapy Team.

This session is designed for Early Years (EY) Practitioners working with children 0-5 years. The session provides foundation information for EY practitioners on Autism Spectrum Disorder. The session also focuses on how EY practitioners can support the child with ASD in a nursery setting.

By the end of this session you will:

  • Have an understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Be able to identify potential signs of ASD

  • Know how to raise concerns to families about children you are working with

  • Know how to refer onto other services locally (e.g. who’s who, and an overview of the referral process)

  • Understand the importance of the environment

  • Have an awareness of the relationship between language and behaviour

  • Know practical strategies to support the child’s communication in the nursery setting

  • Know about further training courses/CPD opportunities

This training is free and accessible via Zoom and can be accessed from the comfort of your own home!

We also ask that each participant joins from one screen. If multiple participants are planning to join from the same service or household, please sign up to the workshop individually.
