Event description | Two-part facilitation training for two senior leaders from each school and early years setting to enable them to lead the facilitation of the four-part Challenging Disproportionality training back in school to the whole school staff, using video training resources. The facilitation training will be led by Orlene Badu who is an experienced Leadership and Education Consultant and a racial literacy advocate. Dates for the facilitation training are: Session 1: 9-1pm, 12th October 2022 Session 2: 9-1pm, 22nd November 2022 The Challenging Disproportionality training course aims to support school and early years leaders to respond to the issues relating to race equality – including those highlighted by the death of George Floyd, the subsequent Black Lives Matters protests and the findings of the Ealing Race Equality Commission. It aims to ensure that leaders are informed about research and current practice in the area of cultural competence and will specifically look at: · Key factors in the persistent underachievement of Black Caribbean pupils · Leadership on equality issues. · Unconscious bias and micro-aggressions: How background, personal experiences, stereotypes and cultural context impact on decisions and actions without you realising. · Introduction to Racial Identity Theory and consideration of the legacy of empire · Strategies for developing cultural competence within organisations At the end of the two facilitation training sessions, attendees will be provided with a comprehensive facilitation pack and access to the four video training sessions to enable them to deliver the Challenging Disproportionality training to all staff back in school. |
