Event description

This 12-part course will provide bite-sized key messages to support the reviewing and establishing of the foundations for effective EYFS practice in our early years settings:

childminders

children centres

private, voluntary and independent settings

schools (nursery and reception classes)

Individuals and Whole-Staff Teams

The course is designed to be attended by individuals and / or, where possible, whole-staff teams, due to the selection of timings available throughout the day and evening. By doing so, this 12-part course attempts to support whole-staff teams to collectively reflect and to gain a shared understanding whilst learning alongside each other.

This course can be attended as a stand-alone course or as one of the requirements of the ‘Inspirational Settings Programme’.

Timings and Target Audience

Whilst the course content is aligned, the twilight sessions are designed with schools in mind - nursery and reception classes.

However, colleagues from childminding settings, children centres, PVIs and schools (nursery and reception classes) can chose to attend the time of the course that best suits them.

The course:

In conjunction with the Ealing Early Years Quality Partnership, this course will be delivered in collaboration with Ealing early years leaders from schools, PVIs and Childminder settings; and will include:

Part 1: Aspirational Vision-Setting

Part 2: Emotional Environment: Wellbeing and Transitions

Part 3: Enabling Environment: Indoor and Outdoor

Part 4: Memory, Recall and Accelerating the Progress of our Lowest 20% / 10% of our children

Part 5: Structuring the day to maximise teaching and embedding learning; Circle Times and Objective-led Play Experiences (metacognition and self-regulated learning)

Part 6: Inclusive Practice: Race Equity, EAL and SEND

Part 7: Prime Areas of Learning and Development

Part 8: Early Phonics (principles)

Part 9: Early Reading

Part 10: Writing and Maths in the EYFS

Part 11: Expressive Arts and Design & Understanding the World

Part 12: Progress, Challenges and Solutions (re: parts 1-11)

Target Audience: School EYFS Leaders; PVI Managers/Deputies; Childminders; Children Centre Staff, EYFS Subject leaders, all early years practitioners
